Organizing Trips and Events

Without our trip organizers, the VPC would be impoverished. We like to have a full schedule of weekend trips from early April through Memorial Day, and to schedule club trips during the summer months coinciding with dam releases throughout New England.

The trip organizer:

  1. fields inquiries about his/her trip by phone or email,
  2. screens participants to be familiar with their experience and ability,
  3. sets the meeting place and time,
  4. keeps group size manageable by appointing lead and sweep boats when appropriate,
  5. sets a good example where safety is concerned, and
  6. writes the trip report for the (Bow and Stern) newsletter.

Please contact the Activities Chair or Vice President if you have an interest in becoming a trip organizer. Familiarize yourself with the Safety Code of American Whitewater, and with the VPC's Trip Organizing 101. From the moment you organize your first VPC trip, you will be admired or maybe even revered by those who take advantage of the trip(s) you offer!
