Referred by: Word of Mouth (Favorite) Website: Playak.com Comments: I'm headed up to Killington, VT for the weekend of Dec 12-13, ostensibly for the purpose of going skiing. However, as the temperature there is in the mid-40's, I may have to look for other options. Is there anything worth paddling nearby (I'm also itching to try out my new drytop)? I'm a solid Class III kayaker, and would be looking for people to paddle with. Cheers, Martin

Referred by: Search Engine Comments: Hello, I'll be returning to VT for the week between Christmas and New Years. Is anyone boating that week? I'd love to paddle some class III, IV water in my home state. Rivers are getting pretty dry down here in PA (nearly official drought conditions). Drop me a line if you wouldn't mind a "tag-along" boater. Thanks, Kevin

Michael Vinton D-Colchester are both proposing Legislation to force Canoes, kayaks and other unpowered watercraft to be registered.Don't believe that the money will be used to increase and improve boater access. It is more likely a thinly veiled aattempt to placate the fisherman and REDUCE boater traffic . Pay attention, call your representatives , don't go to sleep on this one. Thankyou

Referred by: Search Engine Comments: Re: the permit proposal for canoes and kayaks. Rep. Vinton is quoted in the Free Press as saying, "I believe those vessels should be registered. They use our access areas as much as power boats." I stopped at a tourist information area and picked up a copy of the Vermont Official State Map; among the informative paragraphs on the reverse is one about boating and canoeing. the following warning appears regarding Public Boat Launch Areas: "Boaters should note that fishing licenses and fishing equipment are required for use of fishing access areas; tickets will be issued and fines levied for recreational boating from these sites." If we're going to be charged a fee for paddling, shouldn't we at least be able to launch where we want?
