Referred by: "confessed VPC WWW denizen" (Favorite) Website: Virtual Mini Golf Comments: I managed to get my hands on 24 years worth of old Bow and Sterns, which I intend to morph into an online searchable B+S archive. The first step is to scan them (probably 300+ pages worth) into text documents, and this is the step for which I need help. You see, I have no scanner! If someone/anyone in the club with a PC and scanner is willing to help with this project, give me a holler. I'm sure we could make quick work of it some evening or Saturday. Regional maps showing individual USGS gauging station readings updated hourly (courtesy of the New England River Forecast Center) are immensely helpful. This newly discovered resource should help you find water, whatever the season, particularly if you use it in conjunction with the VPC River Gauge Interpreter (another homepage link). T. | |

Referred by: Bow and Stern Comments: I am hoping to get a group interested in paddling the Winooski from Richmond to the dam in Essex Jct (4/3/99). We would put in at the bridge park in Richmond and take out at the park just above the dam next to the IBM plant. Skill level is flat water to (maybe) class I rapids. The river is up (& very cold), but I've done this trip before with my kayak and two women in a canoe. We could start about 1:00 p.m to catch the heat of the day. The trip is approximately 8 mi. & takes 3 - 4 hours. If you've never been on the Winooski at Richmond, you should try it. It is a beautiful spot & you can paddle under the bridge and play in the (gentle - class 1) rapids just upstream from the park. We need at least 3 kayaks for a river trip. If you're interested e-mail or call me. We should plan to drop a car at the dam for the return trip. I will probably wear at least a partial wet suit.
