Does anyone out there want to check out Alaska for a summer? I am the manager of Alaska Raft Adventures a whitewater rafting company operating on the Nenana River just outside of Denali National Park. I am looking for persons interested in working with us next summer. It is a seasonal job, that pays well. Yep, it actually does. The river is Class III, big volume and cold. The scenery is awesome, and the chance to see and experience Denali is one that should be taken advantage of. Drop me an email, and let me know if you are interested or if you know someone else that is interested. Oh yea, the Nenana is a pretty good kayak river, but you'll definitely need the drysuit. Thanks.

There was a release on the West R Oct 16 & 17. Rumor is that this has occurred in past years as well. Does anyone know what the story is on this "extra" release?

Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly, but when they lit a fire
in the craft it sank, proving once and for all that you can't have your
kayak and heat it, too.

Aloha from HawaiiI apologize if this is posted in the wrong place, but I didn't see another contact address for your club. I wonder if I could ask for some information? Our kayak club (Hui Wa’a Kaukahi Kayak Club - from Honolulu, could you guess?) is having a debate over liability and club-provided safety equipment: We presently have several portable VHF Marine radios, which are available to members to be taken on both (club-sponsored) day paddles as well as outer island camping trips. Considered to be a good idea at first, these radios often become a logistical and maintenance burden, and may, in fact, be increasing our liability exposure. The point of this note is, we’re trying to find out whether any other kayak or canoe clubs offer such equipment to their members, and if so, how much or to what extent. If not, has this issue ever been raised by your members? There are no real rivers in Hawai'i, so all our events are offshore ocean paddles, but I’d appreciate any response, to get a feel for how other clubs address this problem. Thanks for your timeRusty Lillico, Vice Pres.Hui Wa’a Kaukahi Kayak Club, Honolulu, Hawaii

The weather is still good and I wouldn't mind a couple of late season runs. We paddled the lower mad 11/20 at 3.5ft. It was a good level to stay reletivly dry (I swam). Call me if you have the urge to get your paddle wet.244-5724

Hi,
Am soon to be a member of VPC. I am new to kayaking (2 yrs) and would like to buy a wetsuit to extend the season. I've visited many web sites that talk about the various suits and outfitter sites, but need to know what people up here in the frozen north use. I'm assuming 3mm neoprene is maybe too thin? Is a two piece better than a one?
Thanks, Bill
