Hello,

Is anyone planning on heading down for the West River weekend? Does the club usually have a place where everyone meets? Do you need campsite reservations in Townsend? Will I finally get my combat roll figured out?

I am a novice kayaker. I am looking for a kayak. Any advice on kayaks or kayaking in the Bennington VT area would be greatly appreciated. Last year I built a kayak, but I have only been out on lakes with it for fear of destroying it. I am looking for one I can eventually take in a river.

Heavy rain is predicted for tonight and tomorrow; the New Haven (and the Mad) should come up fast. Anyone who is interested in running the New Haven should call Matt Walker at 864-2324 (Burlington).

[I might or might not be available; don't know yet, but I'm not optimistic.]

Great beginner-intermediate boat, excellent at front surfing, river running, able to squirt. Usual wear and tear, includes airbags. Asking $400 but willing to haggle. I'm located in Burlington, willing to drive sane distances if necessary.

Hi!
I am sending notice of several upcoming events to tickle your fancy, and…who knows…maybe the remnants of a hurricane or two to liven things up before thoughts of stuffed turkeys and mistletoe begin to command our attention.
LITTLE RIVER RELISCENSING
Call Ray Ingram (879-4286) if you want to join the boater evaluation team and participate in a daylong release event this fall. Kayakers and canoeists needed.
WEST RIVER / CAMPBELLS’
Attend the much-anticipated fall release extravaganza 9/30 and 10/1. A class I-II trip Sat. is planned (879-1655), plus the usual II-III and III-IV mayhem. Call Marvie Campbell (802-875-2235) or just show up (with a dish to share) Saturday eve. in nearby Chester, VT for a bonfire, backyard camping, and low key fun.
MOOSE R. FEST / HUDSON GORGE
Come to NYS Oct. 14 and 15 for great paddling. Call Tony Shaw (879-1655)
or Andy Meilleur (878-3008).
FYI the folks at Ball Mountain Dam refute the rumour going around that a second release is planned for the West this fall. The only release scheduled at this point is the 9/30 - 10/1 weekend. FYI the phone number there is (802) 874-4881. To reach Jamaica State Park call (802) 874-4600.

Hello -- I am selling a whitewater kayak -- a Prijon T-Canyon, about 6 yrs old but used sparingly. It is in very good condition. It is a "large volume" whitewater boat -- some call it more of a "creek boat". For example, the tail section is not compressed, like most of the lower volume boats. It can hold a little bit of gear, and is even possible to paddle straight. It is aimed toward paddlers wanting a larger boat or needing extra leg/weight room. For example, I am 6'4" and 190lbs and can sit comfortably in it.

The boat is similar to the current Prijon "Tornado", which you can read about on the Prijon website:

http://www.prijon.com/Katalog_D/ENGLISCH/Kajaks_E/Wildwasser_E/Tornado_E.htm

I am selling all the gear -- boat, lifevest, paddle, skirt, wetsuit, drytop, and am asking $400. If you don't think that is a fair price, please make an offer.

The boat is currently stored at my friend's house, just south of Middlebury. You can email me or call Melissa at 802-948-2709 ..

Cheers,
John Elder
