Potential lower Mad access problem?

On Saturday I stopped at what I thought was the usual turnout above the lower Mad put-in spot (river-right, just below the dam). Several trees along the road by the turnout were posted; I don't recall seeing similar signs last year. Does anyone know something about this? I was wondering if there might be a potential for conflict with a landowner that didn't exist before.

Speaking of access problems, is access to the Lamoille from Rt. 104 in Fairfax (by the bridge) still a matter of dispute?

Speaking of Lower Mad access problems, I just realized that my normal takeout has also become "posted." This is the river right bank just below the condemned bridge, a few rapids below Horseshoe. Is there another takeout I'm missing?

As for put-ins, Chris, I've been using the tiny pull-off right on the main road (where the gate is) and walking down the trail to put-in there, on river-left. I know this isn't very practical for larger parties though, as there isn't enough room to park.

PADDLERS ALERT! THE LOWER LAMOILLE HAS SEVERAL NEW STRAINERS THIS SPRING! I paddled it last night at low water and saw at least 3 stainers caught between rocks, which would normally be slots to run through. Be careful running between any tight rocks. The strainers were seen all through the run, not just at the five chutes.

As James posted 4/10 on the Lower Lamoille there are some logs sitting crosswise to the current in several fun slots. Saturday at 4' some were barely covered, today at 5'I was careful to stay away from those spots which were well under water and hidden.

LOST: one pair neoprene paddling gloves with MTI logo on them. I lost them last week (4-25) driving out of the Marble Works in Middlebury. I spaced out and left them in my boat and forgot to retrieve them before driving away. Many thank you's and good Karma would be your reward if you found them!!!!
