Get a head-start on training for the New Haven race with this kayak training ergometer - it's an adapter made by Vermont Waterways attached to the front end of a Concept2 rowing machine (model D, I think) with Concept2's PM3 monitor.
Makes a great winter training option for kayakers, taking advantage of Concept2's excellent resistance device and electronics. The card records your training sessions and you can connect the monitor to a PC via a USB cable to upload training data.
With the addition of a rail, seat assembly and handle (available from Concept2 in Morrisville) this could also be a rowing trainer, and convert between rowing and kayaking in less than 2 minutes.
Vermont Waterways made these in co-operation with Concept2 - both good ol' Vermont companies. www.paddlesporttraining.com/
